Auren Brain is a brain games app for iPhone and iPad. Every game is generated on your device and works offline, so most of what you do never leaves it. This policy explains, in full, what does. It covers the Auren Brain app (formerly called Brain Puzzle) and this page.
The short version
- You can play without an account. Without one, your progress stays on your device.
- If you sign in with Apple, we store your progress so it syncs across your devices and survives a new phone.
- Daily Challenge and weekly Wall scores are added to anonymous totals (how many people played and how scores spread) that contain no names or identifiers.
- Auren Brain doesn't use your camera, microphone, contacts or location.
- We do not sell your data. Ads are optional reward videos only, served by Google AdMob.
- You can delete your account and its data from inside the app.
What we collect, and why
If you play without an account
Your levels, scores, streaks, cards and settings are stored only on your device. The app still sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports (see below).
If you sign in with Apple
| Account identifier | The identifier Apple provides, so we can recognise your account across devices. |
|---|---|
| Display name and avatar | The name (up to 30 characters) and one of 40 avatars you choose. Shown in the app, on duel links you send and next to your Daily Challenge rank. |
| Language | To show the app in your language. |
| Progress | Levels, scores, personal bests and streaks, so they sync and survive a new device. |
| Daily Challenge and Wall scores | To rank you on the day's shared board and record the weekly Wall. |
| Subscription status | So Auren Plus follows you to a new device. |
Sign in with Apple may offer to share your name and email address with us. We use the identifier Apple provides and the display name you choose; we do not ask for your phone number, address, date of birth or contacts.
Duels
When you challenge a friend, the app creates a link containing the game, board, level, your score and your display name. Anyone you send the link to can see those details. Duel links are opened through a page hosted on Google Firebase.
Usage statistics and crash reports
To fix problems and improve the games, the app sends a fixed list of events (for example that a game or the Daily Challenge was completed, or that a reward video was offered) and crash reports with your device model and system version. This uses Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics). These events contain no free-form text and nothing you type.
If you message us
Support & Suggestions sends your message and basic device and app details, so we can answer and reproduce problems.
If you subscribe to Auren Plus
Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat manages your subscription status with a purchase identifier.
Ads (free plan only)
There are no banners and no pop-ups. A video plays only when you choose one, for extra plays or a second chance. Videos are provided by Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data as described in Google's policy. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent first. If iOS asks whether Auren Brain may track you, ads become personalised only if you allow it; you can change this any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Auren Plus removes all ads.
Permissions
| Notifications | Optional daily reminders. They are scheduled on your device. |
|---|---|
| Tracking | Optional, and only for the ads described above. |
Auren Brain does not ask for your camera, microphone, photos, contacts or location.
Who processes data for us
| Google Firebase | Sign-in, backup and sync, Daily Challenge and Wall totals, duel link pages, settings, usage statistics and crash reports. |
|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, all payments and app distribution. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status. It never sees your payment details. |
| Google AdMob | Optional reward videos on the free plan. |
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and only to provide its service to us.
Why we are allowed to use your data
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performing our agreement with you (your account, sync, rankings, duels and subscriptions); legitimate interests (keeping the app working, fixing crashes and understanding which games people enjoy); and your consent (personalised ads and tracking, which you can withdraw at any time).
How long we keep things
Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, profile, progress and challenge scores are removed from our servers. Anonymous totals contain no personal data and are kept. Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app.
Your rights
- Delete everything — in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Get a copy of your data — email us and we will send it within 30 days.
- Correct something — edit your name and avatar in your profile, or email us.
- Stop ad tracking — iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Object or complain — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests by emailing us, and you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
- US state privacy rights (for example California) — you may request access to or deletion of your data. We do not sell your personal information.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple and cancelled in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Where your data is held
Account data is stored on Google Cloud (Firebase) and may be processed in the United States. If you are outside that region, it is transferred under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Server-side rules restrict access so a player can read only their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to the minimum the app needs.
Children
Auren Brain is rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 and do not ask for any to play. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
